Finally, the time has come:
on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 11 am we want to inaugurate the ‘Space to Remember, Connect and Support’ on the grounds of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial.
We have been working towards this date for a long time and had to postpone it again in May this year due to the Corona pandemic.
The realization on the grounds is in full swing: the archive racks for the printing plates and the billboard are already partly installed, the printing workshop is almost completely furnished.
We have received impressive, very differently and always lovingly arranged poster designs from many relatives in memory of their family members imprisoned in the Neuengamme concentration camp. We would like to thank them once again very cordially. All of you have contributed to the fact that the ‘Space to Remember’ can now become a growing memorialof living memory.
The poster designs are currently being used to produce printing plates. Those will be presented to the public on the archive shelves from the day of the inauguration on and canthen be used for printing. Simultaneously, the website www.ort-der-verbundenheit.org will also go online, where all poster motifs can soon be seen worldwide.
During the inauguration ceremony the first posters will be placed on the billboard. Relatives who participate in the ceremony can attach their poster themselves.
The inauguration ceremony will be documented on film.
We hope that despite the uncertainty in times of the Corona pandemic, many relatives will be able to attend the inauguration ceremony. One or the other of them may already be present at the “Future of Remembrance Forum”, which will take place from 11th to 13th November at the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial.
For those for whom the inauguration date is not convenient: There will be many more opportunities. The ‘Space to Remember’ will continue to grow each year. On the occasion of the commemoration of the anniversary of liberation at the beginning of May 2021, the next expansion will take place.
